CQI Certificate & Diploma Courses

 

The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is the internationally recognised, professional body that sets the syllabus for both the CQI Diploma and the CQI Certificates in Quality. These widely acclaimed, accepted and prestigious qualifications are essential for any Quality Assurance practitioner or ambitious leader/manager.

Quality Management & Training (QM&T), an approved CQI Education Centre, deliver all the CQI qualifications - Level 3 Certificate and Level 5 Diploma and Certificates. 

The CQI distance learning courses allow delegates to:

The CQI qualifications come under two NVQ-equivalent levels: Level 3 introductory (equivalent to 'A' level) and Level 5 advanced (equivalent to 2nd year degree level):

QM&T Quality Assurance Credentials

QM&T is a Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) approved education centre, winning the prestigious CQI Education Centre Award in 2005/6 and 2006/7. (CQI no longer run these awards.)

QM&T have consistently achieved higher exam pass rates compared to the national average.

The CQI Certificate and Diploma

CQI qualifications are designed to support professionals in their development for quality related roles.

An overview of each qualification is shown below. For more information on each unit please use the links to the left of this page.

Each CQI qualification is made up of a number of units. Some units appear in more than one qualification.  This provides learners with a clear progression between the qualifications. See the matrix below for details on which units appear in which qualification.

The above matrix shows the specific 'Units' required to complete a qualifications. For example to complete the 'Certificate in Quality Management - level 3', it is necessary to complete Units U301, U302, U303, U304 and U305. Also for example to complete 'Diploma in Quality Management - level 5', it is necessary to complete Units U501, U502, U503, U504, U505, U306, U507, U508, U512.

The matrix also shows the assessment methods for any particular Unit.  For the same example (CQI level 5 Diploma in Quality Management) it is necessary to sit three exams (Units U501, U504, U306) and five assignments (Units U502, U503, U505, U507, U508) and one project (U512). It is this unitised approach which allows students to use the learning they have completed towards future qualifications.  For example, if you have already completed the nine Diploma units, you can use some of the units towards the CQI Certificate Level 5 qualifications.

The matrix also shows the qualification level of each of the CQI qualifications. For example the 'Certificate in Quality Management' is Level 3, 'Certificate in Systems Management' is level 5 and the 'Diploma in Quality Management' is Level 5. Level 3 is equivalent to an 'A' Level qualification and Level 5 is equivalent to a Second year degree.

 

Distance Learning Package Content
Each of these Units are stand alone private tuition packages which allows the student to work at their own pace through the training material.

The distance learning material meets the requirements of the CQI syllabus which consists of all of the necessary units to complete the qualification.  The study pack for each Unit will be sent to you upon completing a QM&T student application form together with the relevant fees.  Each of these packages (excluding Unit 512 - project) include:

  • A textbook specifically compiled and created to support and reflect the CQI syllabus.
  • A workbook which includes self assessment exercises and solutions
  • A coursebook which includes tutor notes and additional information for the course
  • An Assignment brief (for the Units which are assessed by assignment) - to be completed by mid November for the January assessment period or by mid April for the June assessment period
  • Sample exam papers for units which are assessed by exam
  • Tutor support is provided by telephone, fax, email or written correspondence as and when required.

Important note for companies:
Students have to complete a number of assignments associated with their course. Often these assignments take the form of work based projects, which with no exaggeration has resulted in students achieving hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of quality improvement and productivity savings for their company. The cost of the training course pales into insignificance when compared to the real cost savings made and greatly enhanced staff potential.
